Thankful for Good Friday

crossI was going to say “Happy Good Friday,” but I think that would be weird…I guess we can be happy that it happened, because without it we would still be bound to Old Testament laws, but being thankful for it struck me as more appropriate.  After all, Good Friday symbolizes the night that Jesus was betrayed by Judas, put to “trial”, flogged, mocked, and eventually killed on the cross.  The night that He was seperated from God for the first and last time, having never sinned while He lived on earth.  The night that He took our sins on Himself as a final sacrifice to appease the wrath of God.  Without this night, we would have no assurance of salvation, and we would still have to perform sacrifices to atone for our sins.  And because of this night we are able to celebrate Easter – the day that He rose from the dead, proving that death has no victory.   Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we are spared from eternal death, and granted eternal life.   Thanks to Him who has saved us!
