Flashback

So, last night I was wandering through Fred Meyer (kinda like Target with groceries for you who are not from these parts) and came across a display of jelly shoes.  As in, the shoes I wore exclusively from 1987-1993.  As in, the shoes I cried over when one fell in the river on vacation.  As in, beautiful, shiny, see throughy shoes-o-plastic.  So, to humor the little bit of me that misses those beauties, I tried them on.  Oh heavens, I can’t begin to describe the comfort.  Then I looked in the mirror.  I was transformed.  I went from harried, hurrying, focused Erin, to whimsical, graceful, jellified Erin.  And I liked her.  And, since the price was very right ($4.) I bought them.  Behold:

Now, they are not the electric blue or pink of yesteryear, but they are quite fun.  And if you squint and tilt your head just right, they don’t even look like jellies.  I’ve already gotten compliments too!  Tim hasn’t seen them yet, he might hate them, but $4 and a little bit younger inside makes it worth it.

  1. How fun! $4? They are definitely worth it! I mean, really, if there was a flood, you could throw them on and not worry about ruining them and you could look cute while trying to escape the water!
